Let's Eat!

Matthew 4:4 (NIV)

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

I know when my stomach is growling it’s time to eat. I’m searching for something; cashews, sandwich, something to satisfy that hunger because that rumble in the tummy is real. But, what if the rumbling wasn’t from your soulful stomach? What if that rumble came from your spirit man? What if your spirit man was saying it wasn’t fed? Would you seek to feed your spirit man like you feed your flesh? Imagine if you will: your spirit man was so hungry that you had to listen to it. And it said, “hey, I know where we get something to eat.” You say, “Where, Because I don’t know what I want. I just know I’m just hungry!” So, your spirit man takes you to this spot. You’ve seen it before but didn’t really pay attention to it too much. Your spirit man is crazy happy, it’s saying, “Yo! This is the spot! Man, I’m telling you we about to grub!” You’re like, “You sure? Man, I don’t know.” Your spirit man says, “Trust me! We’re about to throw down!” So, you follow your spirit man into the spot. The place is jumping. The aroma in the air is amazing. The atmosphere is through the roof. You don’t see a place to sit, but the waiter comes over and says, “I see you have a reservation with us. Yes, I see your name right here, follow Me!” so the waiter takes you to your seat. Your spirit man is salivating at this point. The waiter says, “Here you are my friend, I’ve prepared a table just for you.” The layout is immaculate, with a cup already at the table filled to the brim to the point it’s about to overflow. You sit down and the waiter hands you a menu. You begin to look at it and immediately are like, “Whoa, you see these prices on here? Ain’t no way I can afford any of this!” Then the waiter leans in says, “Don’t worry about it, I know the owner. I’ll pay the price, so you can get what you need!” Your spirit man needed to be fed. So, it took you to church. And the presence of God was in the building so strong, it overtook you. That menu was the Bible. And praise Jesus…you get to eat for free. And don’t worry about a seat, there’s always a place for you in God’s house. The aroma, that was God in the kitchen cooking up a Word for you. And the waiter...that was Jesus. He made sure you had a seat at the table. As food feeds the flesh, the Word of God will feed your spirit man. Don’t let it go malnourished. Feed it by eating every word that comes out of God’s mouth. Look at it this way: instead of following your nose, try following your spirit man.
