If I Could See You

If I Could See You

Lord if I could see You,

What joy would fill my heart,

To know that You'd draw near to me,

Your glory to impart . . .

But then, who am I, Lord

To ask a visit from the KING,

I repent, Lord and I'll wait,

With gratitude and sing.

CHILD, I'M NEAR UNTO YOU

AND HAVE BEEN EVERY DAY,

AND YES YOUR EYES HAVE SEEN ME, ALL ALONG THE WAY.

BUT, LIKE THOSE WAITING FOR MY BIRTH,

YOU ARE LOOKING WHERE I AM NOT,

WHERE I AM, YOU WOULD NOT THINK THAT IS A PLACE FOR GOD!

YOU SAW ME JUST THE OTHER DAY,

IN THAT CRIPPLED LITTLE MAN,

WHO HAD NO MORE HIS LEGS,

WITH WHICH TO TAKE A STAND.

AND SPEAKING WITH A GIRL WHO SAT LONELY WITH NO FRIEND,

I SPOKE THROUGH HIM TO GIVE HOPE,

HER CHILD'S LIFE NOT TO END.

THE TEEN CARRYING HIS BROTHER,

TO LEAD HIM FROM HARMS WAY, THAT WAS ME, AGAIN FOR I KNOW, WHO HE'LL BE SOMEDAY!

THE SOLDIER RETURNING FROM WAR,

JUST SEARCHING FOR ONE FACE,

YOU SAW ME THERE, FOR HE WAS THERE,

BUT ONLY BY MY GRACE!

THAT LADY ON THE CORNER,

DOING BUSINESS, OH SO BOLD,

YOU CAN'T SEE, BUT I'M NEAR HER,

I'M FIGHTING FOR HER SOUL!

THE BUSINESS MAN BEHIND HIS DESK, WHO'S LYING THROUGH HIS TEETH

THE CUSTOMER HAS NO IDEA

THIS BUSINESS MAN'S A CHEAT!

THE COP WHO TAKES HIS DAILY STAND,

OF LAYING DOWN HIS LIFE,

SO ALL THE REST COULD REST IN PEACE,

NOT KILLED IN DAILY STRIFE!

THE GRANDMA IN HER ROCKER,

WITH HER BIBLE ON HER KNEES.

SHE'S PRAYING FOR HER FAMILY, AND I'M NEAR TO EACH OF THESE!

THE TRUTH IS VERY SIMPLE,

I'M NOT WHERE YOU'D THINK I'D BE,

I DON'T KEEP MYSELF IN CHURCH,

FAR FROM LIFE'S NASTY SCENES,

YOU MAY NOT RECOGNIZE ME,

AND I MAY NOT LOOK SO GRAND,

I'M WORKING THROUGH MY PEOPLE ALL ACROSS THE LAND

SO OPEN NOW YOUR EYES

AND LOOK AROUND YOU JUST TO SEE, ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION,

DOES ANYONE SEE JESUS IN ME????

AND IF THE ANSWER COMES BACK NO,

THERE'S JUST ONE THING TO DO,

SPEND TIME WITH ME AND THEN THEY'LL SEE ME EVEN THERE THROUGH YOU!
