I was raised in a quiet church,
with reverence in the air,
old fashioned hymns, and glory songs
about walking in Heaven fair!
Those days seem so long ago, sometimes I seem to be,
thinking of the way it was
WHEN THAT AMEN CORNER SET FREE!
Brother Athen was In the corner,
shoutin' his voice away.
Then bursting into song,
"WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED or CLOUDLESS DAY!
Sister Vaughn and Fanny raising high their hands!
Brother Pete and Brother Joe,
they shouted loud, and they shouted hard,
WHEN THE AMEN CORNER LET GO!
People coming to the Lord,
for salvation from their sin,
assured of Heaven's entrance,
when life on Earth would end.
God's love fell so sweetly,
on sainted faces raised!
We invaded Heaven's throne room,
WHEN OUR AMEN CORNER PRAISED!
These were times, there was no doubt,
that God reigned from Above.
There was no greater blessing
than basking in His love!
I long so much, for days gone past,
when shouting was the way,
when raising hands and praising God,
was done almost every day!
I long for freedom, to express
The joy that floods my soul,
just as in those days of old
AND SEE THE AMEN CORNER LET GO!
I'm so grateful for the times,
when as a child I saw,
the GLORY of God come down,
and rest upon us all!
Now, as an adult
I'm grateful to see,
others in church, cut loose
WHEN THEY ALL GET FREE!
Look around your church,
and see if you can see,
Where your Amen Corner is
and pray God sets it free!!!
I have found that amen corner,
in the church where I now am!
I'm glad to see when people
shout and raise their Holy hands!
